Throwback Thursday: The Blizzard of 1978

I remember.  And I was thrilled.

As a little boy, I knew what Hoth looked like before Hoth was even a thing.  The snow was over my head in some places, and the world was a wonderland of labyrinths and forts.

My siblings and I constructed a pretty neat walled compound that occupied our entire front yard; it impressed every other kid on our street.  I still remember its layout.

  1. I was in college in Worcester, MA during this blizzard. We had no school for a week or two. The dining hall started running out of food so they had to get creative! Thank God our dorm was right next door to the dining room so we didn’t have to walk blocks and blocks 3X a day in that heavy heavy snow.
We had a few snowball fights with the Phi Sig guys over at WPI, continued our partying ways (!) and just hung around in each other’s rooms to pass the time. Oh, those were the days my friend!!
