I had read The Word For World Is Forest when I was in junior high. Thanks for sharing this sad news. I will now reread the story to refresh my memory.

Yeah, and I just found out that The Word For World Is Forest is actually part of The Hainish Cycle. It is book 6. Just got an omnibus with books 1 through 3. Now reading Rocannon’s World. It is actually a pretty cool science fiction story.
