Just one more filtered photo — this obviously isn’t as good as the ones I’ve been running over the past couple of days. This is the James River in the Town of Buchanan in Botetourt County.
The original photo was too dark — and it only helps so much to run it through a warm filter.
I actually took these photos of Botetourt County early last year, I think. I’m just having some fun with photo filters.
These are the last photos of 2017, I suppose. It’s nice that they are of such a beautiful place — despite those cold, foreboding gravestone-colored skies this past weekend.
Virginians are a hardy and gracious lot. And the people of Botetourt define hospitable. My friends there showed me terrific time when we celebrated the holidays.
And check out the second-to-last shot below. Those are the world famous Llamas of Botetourt County.

Termites? A mutant steel-billed woodpecker?
I have no idea what this … organism is, but it looks like the inside of a dog’s ear.
Botetourt County. Those trees you see in the last photo are apple trees.
A pal of mine gave me the grand tour. She’s entirely sweet about putting up with my touristy picture-taking.
Note the mighty bobcat that I bravely confronted.
