In Virginia, everyone is your friend.

Complete strangers will give you huge smile and a fist bump and say, “Keep on rockin’, Baby.”

I swear to you, New York is not like this.

I indeed WILL keep on rockin’, Sir. Thank you.

  1. Eric,

perhaps you were wearing an AC/DC tshirt?

I have fond memories of my trip to Virginia. Indeed, people seemed more friendly.

It was early May, 2017 and my brother had invited me to be a member of his ‘crew’.

He was a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force and had already been reassigned back to Hanscom. The Mission, if I chose to accept, was to sail his 31′ Catalina from Colonial Beach, Virginia all the way up to Wintersport, Maine.

Without getting into the entire excursion, I’ll just say that after my brother picked me and some of the other members of the crew up from Reagan, and did a quick tour of Lincoln Memorial, it was off through Maryland and into Virginia.

Coming from San Diego, I was immediately impressed by the price of gas in Virginia. If memory serves, it was some $2 and change LESS than what we pay in SoCal.

That would put a smile on anyone’s face 🙂

      1. TThanks. You guys have some nice waterways over there. I remember being “off shift’. I was below deck, trying to get some much needed sleep, when my brother (topside at the helm) took a broadside rogue wave on the Chesapeake Bay.

I was ejected from my bunk and flew across to starboard. Luckily, the hull was there to break my face- er, I mean fall 🙂
