Publication Notice, Dead Snakes features “When I Meet the Devil” and “Lying Close”

Two new poems of mine were featured today on the wonderful online poetry magazine, Dead Snakes. The poems are a bit dark, and are entitled “When I Meet the Devil” and “Lying Close.”

Dead Snakes is always a great read, with poetry that is offbeat, dark and unconventional. I highly recommend it.

“Delaware Sheets” appears in Every Day Poets

My poem, “Delaware Sheets,” which I’d actually written back in my 20’s, got some very nice comments over at Every Day Poets.

Please read the poem and, if you like it, kindly click to give it a star rating? (The highest rated poems appear annually in anthology format.) And, as always, thanks for reading! 🙂

I just wanted to thank my friends  –

I just wanted to thank my friends  – both old and new – who have recently offered me some much needed encouragement and kind comments about my writing, especially over the past couple of weeks.   I’m grateful today in particular for Tina, Sazl, Michelle, Lisa, Angela, Jason, Russ,  Tim and Michael.  🙂

I’m really quite fortunate to have people be so generous in their appraisals, not to mention such immensely good natured people in my life.

From Every Day Poets:

“It’s warming up  in the Northern Hemisphere and spring is busting out all over. New growth, new flowers, and of course, new poets. We’d like to welcome Vincent DiPietro, Rohini Gupta, Justine Pannett, Julie deGarie, Eric Robert Nolan, A.A. Howell, Lori Schafer, Michael Braun, Mike Drazen and J.L. Sharp to the Every Day Poets family.”

Thanks, Every Day Poets!

A few quick updates …

First, my short poem, “Delaware Sheets,” will appear in Every Day Poets on May 14.

Second, when my set of three poems, entitled “Three Dreamers,” appear in Illumen Magazine next year, they will be combined into a single long poem. The tentative new title for this revised piece will be “Birds, Machinery and Warfare: Three Dreamers Leave an Office at Dusk.”

Finally, based on a few informal conversations with a publisher, it is possible that my poetry will appear in a new kind of venue in the coming months. I’ll be able to make an announcement if and when those plans are finalized.

I hope everyone is having a great Spring!

Publication Notice, Dagda Publishing Features “Our Room In Brooklyn”

Dagda Publishing in the United Kingdom today featured my poem, “Our Room in Brooklyn.” This was a deeply personal piece that I first drafted many years ago in Park Slope, Brooklyn, but I was initially unsatisfied with how it developed. I recently reworked the poem extensively, though, and was quite eager to share it with an audience.

As always, I’m grateful to Dagda Publishing and its warm community of readers and poets for their encouragement and feedback.

Publication Notice, Every Day Poets to feature “Delaware Sheets”

The online magazine Every Day Poets told me today that it will soon publish a short poem of mine, “Delaware Sheets.”

It’s not yet certain when the piece will appear, but it should be either April or May.  I’m thrilled to see my poem included with Every Day Poets, and I’m quite grateful to the magazine’s editorial board, which worked with me to vastly improve the original draft I submitted.
From Every Day Poets’ website: “Right from the beginning, Every Day Publishing has focused on bite-sized reading for a busy world.  In 2007, Jordan Ellinger, Camille Gooderham Campbell and Steven Smethurst launched Every Day Fiction, one of the first daily online flash fiction magazines, at a time when others were still publishing monthly or quarterly issues.  Other magazines followed: Every Day Poets in 2008, then Flash Fiction Chronicles in 2009.”
I’ll post a link to the poem when it appears.  Happy Easter!

Help Dagda Publishing become an indie lit publishing house!

From Dagda Publishing:  “We have been running a poetry publishing site for over a year now, and want to take our ideas to the next level. We want to turn our endeavours into a full-blown publishing house, not just poetry but literature also.

“The world of publishing is changing rapidly, with the advent of self-publishing, and the increasing remoteness of the big publishing houses who are sticking with the safe titles. We feel that the time is ripe for dynamic, indie publishers to step up and help bring out the next generation of writers.

“We believe that the world always needs literature, to take away the dull and dim veneer that covers our lives. And we believe that we can bring the best new poetry and literature into the world with our endeavours.

“And to make this possible, we need your help.”
