Publication notice: Poetrypoeticspleasure Ezine features “The Writer”

I am honored to share here tonight that a poem of mine was published by Poetrypoeticspleasure Ezine in India.  The poem selected was “The Writer,”  and it is featured in the October 2018 Issue, which was released today.  You can find it here at this link.

Poetrypoeticspleasure Ezine publishes English-language poetry from throughout the world, and features a variety of voices and perspectives.  I am grateful to Editor Rajnish Mishra for allowing mine to be included.

“The Writer” was first featured in 2013 by Dagda Publishing in the United Kingdom, and was included that same year in its print anthology, “Threads.”

I hope you all are enjoying the start of a terrific weekend!

Dennis Villelmi interviews the Woman in Room 237!

If you are a horror fan, you’re in for a rare treat.  Stop over at The Bees Are Dead to read Dennis Villelmi’s interview with Lia Beldam, who portrayed the woman in Room 237 in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Shining.”  (Fans of the 1977 novel and its 2013 sequel, “Doctor Sleep,” may recognize the character as the ghost of Lorraine Massey.)

Dennis chatted with Ms. Beldam about a few different aspects of filming — including her experiences with Kubrick and Jack Nicholson.  It’s great stuff.

A few quick words on the premiere of “The End of the World” (2013)

An Pan-Seok’s “The End of the World” miniseries (2013) appears to be an intelligent, if a little understated, Korean epidemiological thriller.  I was engaged enough by the first episode to rate it a 7 out of 10, and I’ll probably keep watching it to give the show a chance.

It reminded me of Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion” (2011), though the dramatic elements here are even more underplayed — at times the first episode even felt like a documentary.  It’s a bit slow, but it really looks like screenwriter Park Hye-Reon has done his homework.  (The miniseries was based on the novel “Infectious Disease,” by Bae Young-Ik.)

Assuming the series retains the tone and pace of its pilot episode, I believe this would appeal to only serious fans of disease thrillers.  To them, I’d recommend it.
