HOUSE PARTY.

I tried to tune into “House of the Dragon” tonight, and I was really confused, because it was just this show about a house in New Orleans that was the ruin of many a poor boy.

Turns out I was watching “House of the Rising Sun” by accident.

Okay … Episode 1 of “She-Hulk” (2022) was pretty damned good!

It looks to be a smart, irreverent, dialogue-driven trip in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it maybe has kind of a Kevin Smith vibe to it?

Tatiana Maslany makes the show worth watching, in the same way that Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop) made their shows work — by giving us a smart, fast-talking, likable wiseass as a heroine.

I already like her more than … He -Hulk. Regular Hulk? Let’s just call him Hulk Classic. (Sorry, guys, I was never that into Bruce Banner or his alter-ego. Don’t kill me.)

Count me in.

Postscript — here’s a fun thing to debate … who would be the first character in the MCU to break the fourth wall? Would it be She-Hulk? Wanda in the latest Doctor Strange movie? Or does Deadpool count yet?

Impspired includes one of my poems in the “Love, Loss and Cardiac Issues” special fundraising anthology.

I am truly honored to have a poem selected for a special project undertaken by Impspired in the United Kingdom — a new literary collection entitled Love, Loss and Cardiac Issues.  The anthology is composed of creative work from people throughout the world whose lives have been touched by loss due to heart disease.  Impspired will donate the profits from the collection to cardiac research.

The cover art that you see was created by the talented Poppy M. E. Brill, a 15-year-old student from Lincolnshire, UK.

The poem of mine selected was my prose love poem, “Her Smile Was Silver Jupiter.”  I am grateful indeed to Editor Steve Cawte for allowing my work to be a part of this important publication.

Love, Loss and Cardiac Issues can be ordered right here from Amazon.
